Today’s health care has become increasingly segmented and complex. People have difficulty sorting out services they need. Many elderly people do not know where to turn. Fortunately, the church has recognized the needs of healthcare ministry, and within the past 10 years a new concept of the parish nurse has been born.
The expansion of Parish nurses project, works with congregations, hospitals, and nursing homes to develop health ministry’s which provide resources, consultation, and education to meet the needs of seniors within the church and the community.
Funded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Eldercare Development Partnership grant which has successfully developed 48 Parish nurse programs, 3 hospital-based Parish nurse programs and 3 Parish nurse coalitions within our planning and service area.
